Dapitan City kicks-off BBMP

DAPITAN CITY, Philippines- Department of Education (DepEd), Dapitan City Division launched the Bawat Bata Bumabasa Program (BBMP), attended by parents, teachers and selected pupils from Dapitan Central, Baylimango, Sulangon, Barcelona and Potungan schools district, May 8 at Dapitan City Central School.

BBMP aims to make every learner a proficient reader by strengthening reading skills, and nurturing a culture of reading intensifying on the improvement of reading elements such as oral language, phonological aware, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

The kick-off was monitored by Regional Director Ruth Fuentes, together with the CID Chief Vicente Jose Suarez II, division supervisors and school heads of Dapitan City who personally visited actual implementation and conduct of BBMP from grades 1 to 3 classrooms.

RD Fuentes was elated on the presence of the parents who sent their children for the summer remedial classes, as well as to the teachers, who will provide individualized interventions to learners.

Division health personnel led by Dr. Glenn Mohametano conducted the National Vision Screening to detect and assess vision problems that might be impacting to letter recognition and reading comprehension and will help the seating arrangement of the learners to ensure that no one should be left behind.

Helen Calaguian, EPS 1, introduced the overview of the program to the teachers and parents highlighting the significance in producing proficient readers equipped with essential skills for lifelong learning.
