Rallying behind the Department of Education’s 3Bs Initiative or Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa, the Schools Division of Dapitan City strengthens its efforts to bridge the learning gap in reading brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.

To kick start its initiatives, SDO Dapitan City launched on October 20 the “Tutok Basa, Textbook Based (TBTB)” and “Basa Tanan, Basta Tinabangay (BTBT) Projects and the Zeal for Progress in Reading at Sitio Baclay, Barangay Sto. Niño, Dapitan City.
The Project TBTB-BTBT launching was attended by learners, parents, community members, SDO officials, volunteer tutors, and partners from the Local Government of Dapitan City who distributed school supplies to the learners.

In a message read by City Youth and Sports Development Consultant  Sushmita Jalosjos Rivera, Dapitan City Mayor Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos thanked DepEd Dapitan City for the numerous projects geared towards the betterment of learners.
Mayor Jalosjos pointed out the importance of shaping the younger generation and then emphasized that a well-educated workforce is critical to the prosperity of the City.

“All of us need to unite and work together to recover from the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Jalosjos said.
Hence, the mayor called for everyone to join hands to ensure that the city’s future leaders and enablers receive the best education possible.
Meanwhile, Schools Division Superintendent Felix Romy A. Triambulo highlighted the contributions of the offices of City Mayor Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos, First District Congressman Romeo M. Jalosjos Jr., and Provincial Governor Rosalina G. Jalosjos.

SDS Triambulo thanked the local officials for their continued support to the various programs, projects and activities of the city schools division.
Project TBTB and BTBT are reading interventions anchored to the Zeal for Progress in Reading of DepEd Region 9 and on Brigada Pagbasa Program of the DepEd’s External Partnership Service that all call for support, efforts and resources to address education-related challenges.
